Don't Miss McKinney's Most Exciting Art Event!
The Mckinney Plein Air Society (MPAS) is pleased to announce their second annual plein air painting competition and exhibition on October 7, 2023 in Historic Downtown McKinney, Texas.
This unique one-day competition will feature over 30 artists who will spend the day painting around McKinney's Historic Downtown Square, including nearby Finch Park, Mitchell Park, the historic residential neighborhoods and the East Side Development area with the new Tupps Brewery construction site and grain elevators.
Artists will work in a multitude of mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, as well as pastel, charcoal, conte, graphite, colored pencil, and mixed media.
The event ends with the famous "Exhibition on Easels" show and sale, artists' reception, and cash awards held at Diggin' It, a funky garden shop in the old Greyhound bus station.
Awards will be presented at 5:30 p.m. by Awards Judge, nationally recognized plein air painter Rusty Jones.
Please join us to celebrate the art of plein air painting.

Sun, Sun, Sun, here it comes
Come and see my mural spring to life -- larger than life -- all 8 by 22 feet of it.
Sun, Sun, Sun, here it comes
I am super thrilled to be selected to paint my "Here Comes the Sun" mural which is an expression of hope. Taking the title from the Beatles song, it says to me that "It's all right" to be hopeful as we are going into better times.
Sun, Sun, Sun, here it comes
When the mural is done, stand in front of "Here Comes the Sun" to take your own photos under the Sunflowers to celebrate your thriving in a new beginning whether it is your wedding, new baby, birthday, graduation, family reunion, friendship, anniversary, retirement, or any new step in life.
Sun, Sun, Sun, here it comes
Here comes the Sun and I say
It's all right

Reflections are not so much the act of looking back as they are the art of looking inward. Reflection gives us insight and helps us understand and embrace our life journey. With reflection comes growth, and to grow, one must dream. Dreams make us wonder, and wander. Dreams open our minds to possibilities. Dreams motivate us to have the courage to dare to live. Pernie Fallon and Guy Giersch offer an intimate glimpse of “Reflections and Dreams” in their paintings and photographs.
