Produced and sponsored by McKinney Main Street, Arts In Bloom – a Celebration of Art and Wine, takes place in Historic Downtown McKinney and features over 150 national, regional and local artists set up on the tree-lined streets surrounding the McKinney Performing Arts Center. A nationally recognized participant in the Main Street Program, downtown McKinney offers a unique and beautiful setting of restored, turn-of-the-century buildings that now feature cafes, offices, bars, boutiques, galleries and restaurants. During the event the streets of downtown come alive with fascinating sights and sounds as fine artists, performance artists, musicians, Texas wineries, and food vendors take part in the three-day celebration! McKinney’s visual arts scene includes artists offering their creations in such a wide range of media, there truly is something to appeal to every taste. Visual arts can be found in art galleries, working studios and even in various businesses throughout the city. It’s this vibrant scene that sets McKinney apart from other Metroplex cities that host art festivals- we are truly a community that supports the arts and it is our desire to build an arts festival that reflects that. In addition to the visual and performing arts, the event also features an attractive component that allows us to expand our audience and appeal – a Texas wine tasting experience. In 2016, we hosted 10 wineries from across north Texas and offered wine tasting packages to our discerning guests - It was so successful we are expanding the number of participating wineries to 14. It is our desire to educate and expose the arts to today’s younger generation, as well as nurture their budding ambitions, and through hands-on activities and live demonstrations by professional artists in our Kids Create zone we are committed to “planting that seed.” We hope you and your family will join us to celebrate the arts in downtown McKinney, April 7-9! Main Street is a national program that was developed to save historic commercial architecture and improve all aspects of downtown, producing both tangible and intangible benefits. Improving economic management, strengthening public participation and marketing downtown as a fun place to visit is as critical to Main Street's future as recruiting new businesses and rehabilitating buildings. Building on downtown's inherent assets - rich architecture, personal service, traditional values and most of all, a sense of place - the Main Street approach supports entrepreneurship, downtown cooperation and civic concern.

Featured Artists: Pernie Fallon and Steven Napper
In this inspired new body of work, every painting is a journey. Pernie Fallon and her mentor, Steven Napper, have combined their experiences from recent trips, documenting the people and places in rich and vivid color. Fallon uses pastel to celebrate the beauty of nature in her luminous landscapes of favorite places in New Mexico and around McKinney. Napper’s subject matter, painted in pastel and oil, expands to include the native people of the American southwest, as well as, Guatemala, in the joys of daily living. Both artists interpret their adventures with exuberant strokes from vibrant palettes, taking us on a spectacular journey into color.
Journey Into Color will be on display October 8 - November 9, 2011.
